CHURCH PLANTING - AN OVERVIEW
The purpose of this book is two-fold. The first is to set forth theological and practical church planting principles for feasible indigenous church planting. The second is to give practical suggestions as to how to plant an Indigenous Church.
A proper theological basis and practical principles of church growth are of major importance to the church planter. An education in various strategies and methodologies is of little value unless there is a corresponding and preceding theology.
The greatest need today lies in this area of renewed theological thinking. A proper theology will produce a proper methodology. For the church planter the proper methodology will be natural and inevitable to the degree that it issues strictly from Biblical theology.
It is necessary that basic biblical attitudes be internalized into the fabric of the church planter's being beforehe can heave the aptitude to externalize them into action.
Specifically this relates to the words of Paul, "Let this mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus" (Phil. 2v5). Paul also said in Romans 12v2b, "...but let God transform you inwardly by a complete change of your mind" (TEV).
Therefore, for the church planter, attitudes precedes action, motive precedes motion, organism precedes organization, doctrine preceds doing.
The why of church planting is reflected in biblical theology. A New Testament theology must include church planting.
